Great Time Growing At Duke Divinity

Last year, The Black Church Food Security Network received a grant from the Leadership Education program at Duke Divinity. It has been one of the most valuable experiences that has contributed to my growth as the Founder and Executive Director of a social impact organization. However, this is no simple grant program. This three year program is focused on helping us to grow the capacity of our organizations which are all focused on serving pastors and congregations.
This year's convening of grantees came right on time for me. Ten years in to leading my organization, I've been feeling a different kind of pressure. This milestone year has brought with it deep reflection and sometimes feelings of self-doubt. Anyone that has ever led an organization, church or business can attest to the fact that sometimes you wonder if you're doing it "right." That's where I was when I arrived for this retreat. However, by the end of this gathering, I was energized and clear about the next steps that I needed to take to help our organization grow.
Two days of a retreat on Duke's beautiful campus along with a community of other change makers in this grant program was just what I needed. I've rested. I've learned. I've grown. I'm ready!
